Flow Meters & Metering Systems

The Right Measurements

Flow measurement is a critical parameter in oil and gas and other process industries. Because a change in ownership takes place, accuracy is of the utmost importance. Unfortunately, however, measuring the quantity and quality of the flow is less obvious to the human eye.

This is where flowmeters and metering systems come in.

At Petrogas, we offer a wide selection of flowmeters and metering systems to help our customers ensure high process reliability, consistent product quantity and quality, and, most importantly, accurate pricing and billing.

Not only can we procure the highest-quality flowmeters and metering systems, but we also have the skilled personnel to properly install, calibrate, and test them for accuracy. We also stay current on all industry developments, including differing measurement options and regulatory standards. That makes us a true one-stop-shop, because no matter the flowmeter needed or standard used, you can rely on us to guarantee accuracy.

Flowmeter Types:

  • Liquid and Gas Meters, Utility Plant/Distribution Meters, Utility Revenue/Billing Meters, Industrial Meters

  • Residential Flow Meters and Accessories, Utility Electronic Flow Meters

  • Sewer Flow Monitoring and Inspection

  • Collection System Assessment, Collection System Meters

Single Point Accountability for Metering Systems

Petrogas offers an industry-leading single point accountability for flowmeters and metering systems. This gives you a complete turnkey solution for a metrologically compliant custody transfer system.

Allowing for single point accountability ensures everything works together as it should, with maintenance and calibration/certification becoming seamless, ensuring constant compliance with current and future industry regulations.

So why Petrogas? We have the industry expertise, an unsurpassed turnkey quality, and we also have the most diverse product mix to handle every need. As a best practice, critical parts of a measuring system (such as flow meters, flow computers, smart transmitters, provers, and software) should ideally be from the same manufacturer in order to ensure single point accountability of the flow metering system.

This makes it easier than contacting six different contractors to comply with new regulations. Or for a new install/add-on. Many manufacturers’ parts are not compatible with others and require workarounds that are not conducive to accuracy.

Measuring System Installation Considerations

In any installation of flow meters, there are two general approaches to the mechanical configuration:

  1.  In-Situ (Individual Components That Are Installed into Existing Piping): While not usually recommended, this can be a viable option if it’s a simple case of needing one flowmeter in an already well-functioning system.

  2. Fabrication of a Self-Contained Metering Skid: This is often required for full compliance with the weights and measures agency.

Petrogas can handle both. There are factors involved in the two choices, including cost, timeframe, security, space available, existing piping and components, and more. We can consult with you and give you advice on the best direction for your individual needs.

And again, it is not simply a matter of supply . It’s engineering, fabrication, installation, commissioning, calibration, and certifying.  It’s ensuring logical, tamper-proof installation (and not just cutting pipe and installing a meter anywhere). Mistakes in metering can be catastrophically costly. With Petrogas on your side, you can breathe easy.
